When it comes to home improvement, there are a variety of factors that you’ll need to address in order to design your dream home. There are a number of decisions to make and many tasks to complete on the road to perfect, but what is perfect? What does it look like as it pertains to interior design? Creating your perfect dream home is a difficult job, but I think we can all agree that it worth it. After all, home is where the heart it, so you’re not really home until your living space is one your heart can be fully invested in. However, that doesn’t solve the initial problem .Sometimes, it helps get the ball rolling to simply brainstorm, so here are some ideas to toy with to help you find your perfect idea.
First and foremost, consider the unifying power of a theme. A theme can bring your whole home to life and give it a nice cohesive feel that’s hard to beat. For example, let’s look at what it would take to do an ocean themed home. For starters, you’d want to build off of a foundation of an aquatic color palette. This means using shades of blues and greens, primarily, such as teal, cyan, and seafoam. Then, you’d need to procure some decor from Macy’s to go along with your nautical feel. Think things like seashells, anchors, retro diving gear replicas, maybe even a treasure chest. Don’t forget thematically appropriate paintings, posters, and photos! However, you don’t have to stick to this one theme across your whole home. You could do a single themed room, if you like, or even a unique theme for each room. The choice is up to you.
Next, let’s talk about accent walls. Accent walls are simple in concept but add a surprising amount of depth to a space. In essence, an accent wall is just one wall in a room that is different from all of the others. On paper, this sounds interesting, but barely. The real wonder of it is what you do with the furniture and decor placed against that wall after the fact. The hint is in the name. The wall accents that area of the room. It’s great for the wall of your bedroom where the bed rests, for example.
